  • This Church Bell was originally cast in 1686 as a Spanish Mission Bell that was saved from being melted down for a Cannon. It was then brought to this country and was purchased by a parishioner of Emmanuel Episcopal Church and brought up to Little Falls via the Erie Canal and installed and hung in the Church belfry. During the 100th Anniversary celebration of American Independence (July 4, 1876), all the Church bells of Little Falls were asked to ring out in celebration. Unfortunately, during the ringing, the Emmanuel Church Bell cracked. It was decided to repair the Bell and was removed from the Bell Tower and brought to Watervliet to the Meneely Bell Foundry to be re-cast. It still rings to this day - over 324 years of celebrating God's Love and ringing out to the people of the Mohawk Valley and the City of Little Falls, NY.
